How it works

  1. Step 1

Choose where your sleep comes from

Connect Apple Health (Apple Watch, iPhone and any app that writes Sleep), Google Health for Fitbit and Pixel Watch, or keep a diary by hand. Only the source you choose syncs.

  2. Step 2

    Set one wake time

Your wake time anchors everything. Sleep Coach suggests a target bedtime from the average of your recent nights — starting at 7h 30m until there's enough data.

  3. Step 3

Log each morning in under a minute

The weekly check-in

Once a week, with at least five logged nights, Sleep Coach looks at how much of your time in bed you actually spent asleep. Sleep well and you get 15 more minutes. Spend a lot of time awake and it suggests 15 fewer — always between 5 and 12 hours.

A tighter window can make some people sleepier at first. Never drive or use machinery if you feel sleepy.

Your sleep, your source

Apple Health

Reads Sleep samples from Apple Watch, iPhone and any app that writes Sleep to Health. Optionally writes your planned window back so it appears beside Sleep.

Google Health

Connect Fitbit or Pixel Watch with read-only access to sleep sessions and stages. Disconnect any time and the grant is deleted.

Diary

No tracker? No problem. The morning check-in takes under a minute and powers every chart and suggestion.

Gentle reminders

Optional, local reminders for wind-down, bedtime, wake time and your diary — timed from your plan, not a generic alarm. Pause every reminder at once whenever you need a break.

  • Wake time

Optional AI notes

Chat and Sleep review use generative AI to turn your diary into plain-language habit notes. They can be useful — and they can be wrong. We say so on every screen.

Clearly labelled

AI screens say replies are generated by software. A person does not review them first.

Optional

The diary, plan, charts and reminders all work without ever opening Chat or Sleep review.

Stays on sleep habits

The assistant is instructed not to diagnose, prescribe, or tell you to change medication.

Limited context

Only recent nights, your plan and what you type are sent to generate a reply.

I woke at 3am again and lay there for ages. What should I try?
Your diary shows you were awake about 40 minutes after 3am on 3 of the last 5 nights. A common habit tip: if you've been awake around 20 minutes, get up, keep lights low, and return to bed only when sleepy. Keep your 07:00 wake time either way.

Wellness education — not medical care.

Sleep Coach is inspired by publicly available behavioural sleep ideas (often called CBT-I). It is not therapy, not a medical device, and it does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent insomnia or any other condition. It is not an NHS service and it is made by an individual developer who is not a doctor.

  • Speak with your GP if sleep problems are severe, sudden, or getting worse
  • Seek help if you stop breathing or gasp at night, or fall asleep without warning
  • Never change prescribed medication because of anything in the app
  • Feeling sleepy? Don't drive, cycle or operate machinery

In an emergency in the UK call 999, or 111 for urgent medical advice. If you are thinking about harming yourself, contact emergency services or Samaritans on 116 123. Read the full wellness disclaimer.
